If I was not convicted of the ticket, why does the accident still show up on my driving record?
Any time an officer comes to the scene of fan accident, an accident report is written. When the paper work is completed, the accident will appear on the driving record, even if you were not charged or "at fault."


What do I need to take out a car insurance policy?
To apply for auto insurance, you will need registrations or proof of ownership for all vehicles and license numbers on all drivers in the household. For additional discounts, you may need a copy of your prior insurance policy and/or proof of home ownership.


What do I need to apply for home insurance?
Information on the construction of the house, including updates to the plumbing, electrical, and roof, is required. In addition, photos of the front and back of the house are required.


Do I have to list my spouse or children on my policy?
The exception to this rule is for drivers who have their own vehicles insured in their own name. With proof of other insurance, the insurance company will not require that the other driver be listed on your policy.


Can I take my children or spouse off of my policy?
The insurance companies require proof that the listed driver has his own insurance policy in his own name before they will delete the driver. The only other option is for driver to show proof that he has surrendered his license. The insurance companies will delete drivers who no longer have their driver's license.


Why do insurance companies use credit scores to calculate rates?
Insurance companies are using credit records and credit scores more often to give customers discounts on automobile insurance rates. This is especially true on physical damage rates. If the customer has good credit, he may find that the company will give him a cheaper rate. In addition, most homeowners companies are using credit histories to reduce the number of claims. History shows that many fraudulent home owners claims are filed by people in financial trouble. However, Foster Insurance Agency represents several companies for auto, home, and commercial insurance that do not require a credit score.


When getting house insurance, why does the insurance company care what kind of dog I own?
Animal breeds that have a vicious history can easily lead to liability claims. Therefore, many insurance companies will not write a policy on a house when the owner or resident has dogs that have a history of biting. Failure to disclose this information will result in the cancellation of the policy and is considered misrepresentation.


What about trampolines and pools?
The insurance companies will refuse to write insurance on houses where there are trampolines or pools due to high liability risk. Trampolines are considered a high risk because of accidents to children - with or without permission to be on the property. Also enticing to children, pools can be covered for liability with the home insurance, but the owner must show proof that the pool is enclosed by a 4" self-locking fence. (Some companies require a larger fence)
